Welcome to the new look and format of the Florida Birth Source.  Excuse us for the delay in publishing.  The need for accurate information and local statistics could be no more pertinent than now.

Did you know that Central Floridians are more likely today to lack proper insurance for their prenatal care?  And Florida is being scrutinized for the growing numbers of premature infants as the Cesarian section rate tops 40 percent at most hospitals.  Now is the time to make sure that women and families in our community are educated and empowered to make choices consistent with their values and beliefs.

The integrity of the family begins at birth.  Starting off with knowledge and choice allows you the best start in making all of your choices as a parent.  On our site, we will provide statistics of local hospitals, information from authorities on birth both locally and nationally.  You will hear birth stories from those in the community.  And you will have a chance to ask questions and to be heard about your concerns and issues related to birth and parenting.

Thanks for taking the time to care about your health, baby and birth. It is my hope that the contents of this newsletter give you one tool in having the birth that supports you, your child and your family.

Sincerely,
Cathy Rudolph CNM
